About the event
We will paddle down the Chassahowitzka River to a primitive area where we have a great view of the evening sky. Along the way we will see a colorful scenic sunset through the palm trees and diverse natural swamp hammock.
There we will sit back to watch a full moon rise above the trees.
The guide will give an educational interpretation about the moon, planets, constellations and how the native Indians and sailors used the night sky as a calendar
and for navigating at night.
As we follow the light of the moon back up river, we are very likely to see bats, lightning bugs, bullfrog, alligator and raccoon eyes along the river bank. We’ll hear owls, frogs and crickets in the background. You never know what surprises we may encounter on this twilight adventure!
